Safe Room Fire Survival Comparison

The project combines building information models and fire-simulation information to visualize and compare safe room proposals. Its presentation moves from building scenes to interior fire-protection configurations and side-by-side simulations. Scene entries cover hospitals, homes, schools, hotels and shopping centers, with hospital interiors illustrating material placement. Parallel views with and without a safe room combine time-series charts, heatmaps and 3D models to communicate simulated environmental changes and configuration differences.

Building scene overview and safe room configurations

Project Highlights

One entry point for multiple building scenes

The 3D building overview organizes entries for hospital, residential, school, hotel and retail settings. It introduces protection, survival-support and rescue-communication configurations before moving into individual spaces.

Link material lists to their positions in the model

Hospital scene entries include ICU wards, CT rooms and general wards. Lists of fire doors, flooring and windows are presented alongside interior models, location markers and material diagrams to explain configurations in their spatial context.

Compare simulated changes side by side

Parallel safe room and non-safe-room views display simulated time-series indicators including a composite survival index, heat flux, CO concentration, smoke-layer height, temperature, visibility and oxygen concentration. Spatial models and heatmaps help explain differences between configurations during proposal presentations.
